Yousef was at a football-themed birthday party today.  His school’s last-day-party also has a football theme.  Football fever is everywhere I look.  Tonight is England’s first game.  I’ve supported England for as long as I remember and, in true fatherly fashion, I’m imposing this onto my children.

This is a great timetable which I came across on SomeContrast – please note the time difference means you add an hour to get Kuwait time.  Whoever you’re supporting, enjoy the World Cup!

Kuwait’s Special Forces put on a fun show at Kuwait Towers last Saturday.  It was the first of its kind and a great success.  It started on time (wow) and was very impressive indeed.  Helicopters, men on ropes (often head first) and beautiful use of flag-coloured smoke.

” 1848 is historically famous for the wave of revolutions that swept Europe and the world, starting in France. They significantly altered the political and philosophical landscape and had major ramifications throughout the rest of the century .”

This is what Wikipedia says about the year 1848.  Well… 48 years ago, Kuwait started a new chapter in her history.  Going back 18 years on the 26th, an “altered” history was changed back to the right course.

I’ve timed this post to appear at 18:48 to the 24th.  At that time, I shall be on my way home in time for the holidays.

Happy Independence and Liberation Days Kuwait.

May god bless this country and everyone who calls it home.

Always HIGH by you.

Hard to believe it’s been 18 years!

It was in 1990, August the 2nd almost to the hour, when Iraq invaded Kuwait.  Apart from a few countries, with more greed than sense, the world stood against the invasion.  We were free again seven months later.  A good summary of events is available on the BBC website.  Information on our fight back is available on this link.

I pray Kuwait’s flag is always flying high.  My condolences to all the families of the martyrs.

For Kuwait and for our children….. Independence and Liberation are essential.

May Allah bless this country and everyone who calls it home.

It’s Liberation Day!

I was hoping to take a photo to commemorate this day but instead (being lazy) I decided to photoshop an older photograph to make the Kuwait flag with the traffic colours.

Happy Independence & Liberation. May god always bless Kuwait and everyone in it.
