This has to be one of my favourite places in the Gulf.  It’s certainly my favourite market.  You can find everything imaginable – all within a one-mile radius. This afternoon I had to get my misbah (beads) fixed, and therefore had some time to look around.  I stayed within the Mubarakiya area with not enough time to go to the Souq Selah and Soug il Bishoot.

I’m so pleased I finally managed to get the lovely straw-man of Kuwait.  Every time I see him there I wish I had my camera.  He was very welcoming.  Below are a few more shots of the short walk.

  1. I love Souq Mbarkiya, thanks for the share, these are awesome pictures. 🙂

  2. Fantastic shots as usual!!!

  3. Love the DOF on the last one 🙂

  4. should the colors have been brighter…??
Great pics.. i loved the mounds of spices with bottles of VIMTO, Rose water and VINEGAR in the back ground

    • Yes! The zoom lens without a flash limited me in the low light…

  5. Your pictures have a nice glow. I need to get a prime lens 😛

    • It’s the cheap fluorescent lighting 🙂

  6. Considering the low light, very nice shots. 🙂

  7. Awesome photos. Sure brings back memories when I lived in the middle east. I can almost smell the shops by looking at your photos.
